Why a Seat Ibiza Replacement Key Won't Work
The Ibiza is now equipped with the latest generation of driver assistances. Travel Assist ensures that your vehicle can keep up with the flow of traffic while Lane Assist eliminates the stress of changing lanes.
Remove the battery compartment cover on the key fob (A). Using a thumb nail or flat-head screwdriver to pull upwards the cover, then replace the CR2025 battery.
Dead Coin Battery
If your key fob has stopped functioning and you're not capable of reprogramming it with an entirely new code, the most likely reason is a dead battery in the coin. It is possible to replace the battery yourself within a matter of ten minutes.
Open the key first from the side without the rings made of metal. You can then open the clip-on lid by using your nail. The old battery can then be removed via the hole in the middle. Note: If you change the battery in error, or with a battery that is not suitable, it can harm the remote. Always replace seat car key using one with the same size, voltage and specification as the original.
If your key fob was submerged by water, you might also need to clean the chip prior to replacing the battery. This is especially true if it was dropped in the sea or soapy water. It's crucial to do this as soon as you can, since water could damage your key fob's electronic chip.
Worn Buttons
Seat Ibiza keys stop working most often because the battery is dead. This is not a problem and takes only a few minutes. The key fob will also stop working if the buttons have worn out. It is an easy fix that will require you to replace the old key shell with a new one.
It is essential to replace the button cell battery correctly or the key fob could become damaged. It's recommended to always use a new battery with the same voltage, size and specifications. It's crucial that the polarity is facing upwards on the new battery.
The key fob is protected by rubber seals, which will keep water out. Submerging the keyfob in water could cause the seals on the keyfob to break, causing damage to the chip's electronic components. This typically happens when you accidentally drop your key fob in the pool or leave it in the rain. If your key fob still does not work after replacing it or reprogramming, the receiver module may be defective.
Water Damage
The key fob has rubber seals to stop water getting into the electronic chip inside. This does not stop the occasional splash. If your fob has survived a wash cycle, or swimming in the ocean, it could have damaged the chip.
You can fix this issue by taking the battery off and cleaning the chip with isopropyl ethanol or electronic cleaner. Then let it dry completely before replacing it. If the chip has become damaged, it must be replaced with a new one.
If your key fob still doesn't work after changing the battery and programming it, there could be due to a issue with the receiver module. It is the part inside the car that receives signals from the key fob and relays signals to the key ignition system. If you have an extra key fob you can test it. It should trigger the ignition system light turn on and the central locking button activate. If this doesn't occur it is possible that the receiver module may be faulty. This is a costly fix but can be fixed by an expert at your local garage.
Radio Interference

If your car's radio appears to be acting strangely or the key fob is no longer working, it could be due to an interference issue with the receiver module inside the key. Seat parts can provide an alternative key with an entirely new receiver.
To replace the battery, simply remove the key and gently lift the cover of the key fob's battery compartment with your thumb or a flat-headed screwdriver. Remove the CR2025 battery and insert a new one, ensuring that it is in the correct polarity. You can also make use of a standard key, with the transponder chip transferred from the damaged or worn key. This can be coded, and cut to fit your car as needed.
Faulty Receiver Module
The receiver module is the component inside the key fob which transmits radio signals to the car. The module could be defective when the fob ceases to function. This can be diagnosed using an OBDII scan tool or by calling the dealer.
The remote keyless entry system is vulnerable to interference from other devices that operate at the same frequency. This could include mobile phones, electrical devices, and even household appliances.
If the fob is exposed to clean tap water, it may be possible to clean the electronic chip with paper towels and isopropyl ethanol. If the fob is submerged in soapy or salt water, or sat on a floor that is wet for prolonged periods, this is most likely to cause damage and will likely require replacement.
To change the battery on your key fob, use your thumb nail or small flat-head screwdriver to open the cover of the button cell compartment (B). Remove the old battery. Insert a new CR2025 battery, making sure the "+" side is facing upwards.
